Herne's path in Wica began almost 25 years ago when he was initiated into an Alexandrian Coven in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on the verge of his twenties. Since that time he has been active in the Wica at times in very public ways but mostly in the behind the scenes work of running a Coven and training suitable apprentices toward their eventual hiving off and founding of their own Covens. He is a firm believer that it is the greatest pride to have one's students excel and shine forth with the glory of the Old Ones. He has no patience for the power tripping and ego problems that oftimes plague the Pagan/Craft movement and believes that the Holy Priesthood of the Wica is about serving the Gods, not being served by one's initiates.
In his many years of practise he has had the good fortune to make many Craft connexions and subsequently is High Priest and Magus in 3 of the 4 Craft Traditions he has been brought into over the years: Gardnerian, Alexandrian, Minoan and American Welsh. The Gardnerian Lineage descending from Queen Lady Olwen via Long Island New York has been his primary focus since 1993 and na Lasanta Eala Bhrighid has been a Coven whose sole practise has been within the hallowed strictures of that Line. Herne has downline Covens in California, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Texas and Canada within this Line. Alexandrian being his first contact with the Wica, he has always been available for those seeking Alexandrian training, being a 3rd degree of the Farrar lineage. Herne has no lineal connexions with any other Alexandrian Lines in Massachusetts, though he bears filial fondness and fellowship with those Covens within the Du Bhandhia Grasail Lines, the Line that brought him into the Wica!
Over ten years ago Herne visited New Orleans and was charmed by the magic of that city, moved and prospered there and established a solid Gardnerian Coven with the Lady Hadassah who remains in Louisiana along with Lady Rhiannon, another of his 3rd degree initiates. Due to the effects of Katrina, Herne made the difficult decision to move back to New England, the land of his rearing.
Whilst in New Orleans, Herne joined and was brought through the Three Degrees of Craft Masonry in Germania Lodge #46 where he served as Juniour Warden of the Lodge, pre-Katrina. His search for further Masonic Light also led him to the 32nd Degree of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite as well as the Degree of Select Master in the York Rite.
Herne is also a legally ordained minister through the 'Our Lord and Lady of the Trinacrian Rose Church' in Massachusetts and is able to legally perform all rites of passage, including sainings, handfastings and requiems.
